Debuted at the 2001 Fort Lauderdale show, the Westport 130 became the most successful production superyacht ever built in America. Two generations exist: the original 130' (1500 series, 2001-2011) and the current 40 Meter (4000 series), both tri-decks with five staterooms for 10 guests and 24-knot MTU performance.
The two generations trade in completely different bands, and the confirmed sales above show the gap plainly: $4.6M to $10.5M for first-generation 130s, $13M to $18.7M for 40 Meter hulls. Within each series, the spread comes down to refit history, engine hours against generator hours, and whether the boat was run by a professional crew or left sitting.
Greg captained W130s for over a decade before selling them: he sold the W130 "Milk Money" ($12.95M asking, 2021), currently lists the 130' "Blue Time" at $15,900,000, and maintains a hull-by-hull tracker of all 45 W130/40M yachts worldwide - every owner, every status, every sale.
On this model specifically, the money is in the systems, not the joinery. The MTU main engines are durable and well supported, so raw hours matter less than service history and how the boat was loaded on long runs. The number Greg looks at first is generator hours against main engine hours: a wide ratio means the yacht spent years at the dock with everything running, which ages the air conditioning, the watermaker and the electrical side far faster than cruising does.
After that: stabilizer condition under load rather than at rest, thruster performance, watermaker output against its rated figure, and whether the electronics suite has been kept current or patched. A tri-deck of this size can be made to look new for the price of paint and soft goods. None of that touches what actually costs money to put right.
