Buyer's Guide · Updated October 26, 2026
Which year of Westport 112 to buy, from the 10 for sale in the US today. What changed across the production run, what the engines are by year, and what decides the price between two hulls of the same age.
The Short Answer
As of October 26, 2026, 10 Westport 112s are for sale in the US, built from 1999 to 2017 and asking $2,625,000 to $9,995,000, with a median of $5,870,000. Because Westport built the 112 in series for about two decades, these boats are close sisters: same hull, same basic layout, same MTU power. What separates a $2,625,000 hull from a $9,995,000 one is mostly what has been done to it since it left the yard: engine overhauls, refits, paint and how it was run.
The clearest proof is the two 2006 hulls. Lila Cuy asks $4,495,000 and No Shortcuts asks $5,995,000: same year, $1,500,000 apart. Read their refit histories and the gap explains itself. That is the whole skill of buying a 112, and it is the part Greg brings from seven years selling them inside the builder and years running them from the helm.
The Model
Westport launched its first 112 in 1998 and went on to build more than 65 of them in Washington State. Building one design that many times is what makes the model predictable to own: parts, surveyors and captains all know it.
The design was refined rather than replaced. Broker accounts of the model's history describe side boarding gates, a passerelle for Mediterranean mooring, a fifth crew berth and larger aft deck seating from hull 42, and larger hull side windows on later hulls. When the market slowed in 2008, Westport offered the 112 with an on-deck master as well as the original all-below layout, so ask which arrangement a given hull has. The model's successor is the Westport 117, built to order.
Engines by Year
Every 112 for sale runs twin MTU diesels. Output per engine as stated in each listing.
| Year | Yacht | Engines (twin) | Per engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1999 | Checkered Past | MTU 16V2000 M90 | 1,800 hp |
| 2001 | Island Girl | MTU 12V2000 | 1,850 hp |
| 2002 | Amico | MTU 16V2000 M91 | 1,800 hp |
| 2003 | Legacy | MTU 16V2000 | 2,000 hp |
| 2004 | Bravo Zulu | MTU 16V2000 M91 | 2,000 hp |
| 2006 | Lila Cuy | MTU 16V2000 | Not stated |
| 2006 | No Shortcuts | MTU 16V2000 | 2,000 hp |
| 2007 | Kemosabe | MTU 16V2000 M91 | 2,000 hp |
| 2011 | Cerca Trova | MTU 16V | 2,000 hp |
| 2017 | Determination | MTU 16V2000 M86 | 2,185 hp |
Listed output climbs from 1,800 hp on the earliest hulls to 2,000 hp by the mid 2000s and 2,185 hp on the 2017 hull. Horsepower matters less than hours and overhaul history: total hours and hours since a major overhaul are different numbers, and the second one is what a survey and a sea trial should confirm.
The earliest hulls
The entry to the model. Budget for the systems and cosmetic work a 25-year-old yacht needs, and let the survey set the number. Greg can scope the refit before you offer.
The core of the market
Seven hulls from 2002 to 2011 inside about $1.5 million. Here refit dates and engine work decide the value, not the build year.
Lila CuyEx Angel Wings. Neosage interior in 2019 and a 2025 yard period at Safe Harbor Rybovich, more work in 2026. About 6,200 engine hours.
AmicoTwin MTU 16V2000 M91, a listed top speed of 28 knots and zero-speed stabilizers. Lying in Miami.
KemosabeIK Yacht Design interior, engines overhauled and paint done in 2024, 429 and 413 hours since. Set up for charter.
LegacyA 2023 to 2024 refit inside and out, then both engines overhauled in December 2025, about 300 hours since.
No ShortcutsRefit through 2022 and hull refaired in 2024. About 5,800 engine hours. The other 2006 hull for sale.
Cerca TrovaOne of two hulls for sale built after 2010, 3,700 engine hours. The listing states one engine is not operating.
Bravo ZuluEngines rebuilt in May 2026, about 150 hours since, and an Awlcraft repaint in 2025. A preliminary listing, one photo so far.
The late hull
The 2017 Determination is the newest 112 for sale, with MTU warranty to May 2027 stated in her listing.
Before an Offer
1. Hours since overhaul, not just total hours. Kemosabe shows 429 and 413 hours after its 2024 overhaul; Legacy about 300 since December 2025; Bravo Zulu about 150 since May 2026. Compare that with total hours near 5,800 to 5,900 on Lila Cuy and No Shortcuts. Both can be the right boat; they are priced differently for a reason.
2. The refit record, by year. Interior, paint, stabilizers, generators and air conditioning age on their own clocks. Each 112 page on this site lists the work by year where the listing publishes it.
3. What the listing itself discloses. Cerca Trova is offered with one engine reported as not operating, which is the first thing to price. Bravo Zulu is a preliminary listing with one photo, so ask for the full set before you travel.
4. Layout and crew. The 112s for sale list four staterooms for eight guests and crew quarters for four or five. Confirm the master's position and the crew count your cruising plan needs.
5. Where she lies. Most of these boats are in Fort Lauderdale, so a buyer can see much of the market in a few days. The full list with prices and photos is on the Westport 112 for sale page.
Common Questions
There is no single best year, because condition decides more than age on this model. As of October 26, 2026 the 10 Westport 112s for sale in the US run from 1999 to 2017. The hulls with recent engine overhauls and documented refits (Kemosabe, Legacy, Bravo Zulu) cluster around the $5,870,000 median, the two earliest hulls sit under $3,000,000, and three listings state engine warranty: Determination's MTU warranty to May 2027, Kemosabe's 2024 overhaul to March 2028 or 3,000 hours, and Bravo Zulu's May 2026 rebuild.
As of October 26, 2026, Westport 112s in the US ask $2,625,000 to $9,995,000, with a median of $5,870,000 across the 10 for sale. The lowest is the 1999 Checkered Past, the highest the 2017 Determination. Asking is not sold: closing prices are not published in the US.
More than 65. Westport launched the first 112 in 1998 and built the model in series for about two decades, which is why so many are on the brokerage market at once and why sisterships make such clean price comparisons.
Twin MTU diesels on every hull for sale. As listed, the earliest hulls carry MTU 16V2000 M90s at 1,800 hp each, hulls from the mid 2000s list 2,000 hp, and the 2017 Determination lists M86s at 2,185 hp each.
The layout stayed close to the original, with updates along the way. Broker accounts of the model's history describe side boarding gates, a passerelle, a fifth crew berth and larger aft deck seating from hull 42, and larger hull side windows on later hulls. During the 2008 downturn Westport also offered the 112 with an on-deck master, so it is worth confirming which layout a given hull has.
The Westport 117, built to order as new construction. Greg arranges yard introductions for buyers who want a new hull rather than a brokerage 112.
The common rule of thumb is 8 to 10 percent of the boat's value per year, with caveats, explained on the yacht ownership cost page. On the $5,870,000 median that is roughly $470,000 to $587,000 a year before crew choices, cruising plans and the boat's own condition move it.
